Dairy Allergies: No More Milk, Cheese, Or Any Other Dairy Products Ever Again?
The moment you found out that you had a dairy allergy, you became devastated. At least you thought you would never be able to eat and enjoy dairy foods again. Many others are just like you. They are plagued with allergies to dairy products.
The suffering that surrounds this allergy varies from person to person. While some may get a simple headache from a glass of milk, others are up all night long with a severe intestinal pain from eating a dish of ice cream.
If you follow a certain dairy allergy diet and prevention plan, you may be able to enjoy dairy products again.
Dairy Allergy Diet and Prevention Plan
First of all, you need to determine that you do in fact have an allergy to dairy products. By scheduling an appointment with your allergist, this can be resolved. They will test you by giving you small amounts of dairy products and watching for a physical reaction.
When your skin turns red and inflamed, your doctor knows that an allergic reaction has occurred. He will then be able to determine what the allergy is and should then arm you with a copy of a dairy allergy diet and prevention plan.
The most common dairy allergy diet and prevention plan is refraining form the dairy products that cause you the most discomfort. So this is done through elimination, another method of testing food allergies. Although you have an allergy to milk, you may still be able to eat cheese or ice cream. It simply means the allergen giving you the problem is in the milk, itself.
Your doctor may also prescribe some dairy allergy supplements for you. Some that are lactose intolerant take supplements and do just fine. But once again, this will depend on the individual and the severity of the allergy itself.
Talk to your allergist and determine what your dairy maladies are. Then, if you have them, ask your physician how you to may enjoy life and still enjoy some of the dairy products you are so fond of. Just because you have allergies doesn’t mean that you have to give up dairy products altogether. You just need to know of ways that you can enjoy without suffering. That way you can have your ice cream and enjoy it too!
